# Why do I need file I-90 for a new green card once I am 14 years old?

## You must have your fingerprints taken.

The USCIS requires that green card holders over the age of 14 have their fingerprints taken. If you received your green card before the age of 14, the USCIS doesn’t have your fingerprints on file. You must apply for a new green card and be fingerprinted. CITATION.PG4.Section.2G2) http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-90instr.pdf
