What is the difference between commuter and non commuter? (I-90)
Make a special request to obtain commuter status.
The USCIS defines permanent resident commuter status as a status in which a green card holder continues to actually live in Mexico or Canada but regularly travels to the United States for work. The USCIS does not assign commuter status automatically. Individuals who wish to fall under commuter status must make a special request for it with the U.S. immigration authorities. This status will be annotated on their green card. Those individuals who wish to change their status can do so using Form I-90.
