# If my green card expires during travel outside the U.S., what should be done considering the travel was just for couple of weeks?

U.S Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) states that if your green card is lost or expires during a trip out of the U.S., you will have to obtain a new one upon re-entry. you should contact the nearest U.S. Consulate, USCIS office, or U.S. port of entry before attempting to file Form I-90 for a renewal green card.
